Should your golf driver swing be different than normal?
Many players think that
their golf driver swing should be different than the swing they
make with their other irons. It could be the fact that it's the club that
you normally hit the furthest, and they feel you should move the hardest at
to make the ball fly as far as you possibly can.
The fact of the matter is that almost all instructors will tell you there should
be no difference in the way you swing golf clubs and drivers. They should be hit
as close to the same as possible. I know that sometimes when you're standing on
the tee looking to bomb a drive down the fairway it seems almost impossible to
do. But guess what that's half the battle when it comes to the golf swing.
Why hitting a golf driver is all a mental game
If you compare golf driver and iron there are some huge differences in the
way they look and feel. That is not a thing we can dispute but what you have
to remember is, that you are trying to do the same thing with both pieces of
equipment. One of the hardest things about the game of golf is repeating the
same golf swing under all different conditions. Whether you're hitting a golf
driver into the wind on a long par 5 or chipping sand wedge onto the green the
thought and swing process remain practically the same.
Most coaches and instructors will give you simple golf instructions. Hitting
the driver should be no different than hitting any other club in your bag. (putters
excluded) That's it.
Getting
an effective golf swing with a driver
The one thing that I may suggest to help you with your tee shots is to get the
proper equipment. What we mean by that is to make sure that your driver is fitted
properly to your individual swing. Ask your local professional if they can custom
fit your equipment or find out where they suggest you can go to get this done
properly. This alone should make a huge difference in your golf driver swing.
Alot of the online retailers will also offer custom help if you’re looking
to purchase new equipment.
