What is the golf swing plane and how can we train ourselves to get the club there properly? The swing plane is basically the path the club travels on in the backswing and the downswing out towards the target. The term is actually taken from a reference of a pane glass.
You want to try to swing the club on the same even plane consistently though the entire motion of the swing, keeping it as even as a pane of glass. In other words you don't want the club to be weaving in and out all over the place and break that pane.
The best way to learn to move the club down the line on the proper plane is to get you one of the swing trainers available to the pubic. Because it is so hard for the golfer to see the path his club is traveling on, they have to have some way of getting feedback about there swing. These tools are great because they tell you immediately if you are swinging poorly, coming over the top, inside to out, breaking down etc. Once you know what you are doing wrong you can go ahead and fix it. Here are a few of the better golf swing plane trainers to help you.
