Be your group's big hitter with the longest golf drivers.

Everyone wants the bragging rights of hitting the longest tee shot and that takes the longest golf drivers to get the job done. It is a great feeling to step up on the tee after your buddy has hit and smack the ball right past where his is lying in the fairway. And even better than something to feel good about, a long drive can lower your score because it makes your second shot easier. Along drive may allow you to get on the green in two shots on some par fives. This is a huge advantage when you can be putting while everyone else is still chipping. On shorter holes, long drivers golf game means that you will be hitting a wedge instead of a n iron. So instead of trying to get on the green, you will be focusing on where on the green you want to put the ball. Again, this is a huge advantage and you will owe it all to long drivers in golf.

So a lot of what makes for the best long golf drivers is that it feels right when you swing it. There are a variety of factors that affect the feel of the club. One is the length of the shaft. You will notice that your driver is longer than any of the other clubs in your bag. Since you are hitting the ball off a tee, why should it be longer? The reason is that the extra length allows you to get the head of the club moving faster when it makes contact with the ball. So the longest drivers in golf have the potential to hit the ball the furthest.

This make sense if you think about something that is rotating. Wear the inside it is moving slowly, but towards the outside it is moving much faster. So the head of your driver is moving much faster than your hands because it has to travel a longer distance in the same amount of time. And the longer the shaft, the faster the head is going. There is a limit to the effectiveness of lengthening the shaft, however. Because the longer the shaft, the harder it is for you to hit the ball with the very center of the club face, also called the sweet spot. If you miss the sweet spot even by a fraction of an inch, it will cost you distance.

So the long shaft has potential to go further, but it cannot always deliver. The perfect shaft length for you is the longest one that you can consistently hit the sweet spot with. This will give you a long, predictable drive which is the perfect combination. Of course, oversize heads like the ones on the Calloway Big Bertha give you a bigger sweet spot so they can have a longer shaft and that is the secret of their big distance.

Another factor that long golf drives share is light weight. Again, this has to do with the speed at which you can swing the club. The lighter the club, the faster you can swing it while maintaining control. Since we already know that those big heads are helpful, we do not want to lose any weight there. Instead, the way to make the longest golf driver is to give it the lightest shaft. The lighter shafts remove a considerable amount of weight from the club and it is weight that is not helping you because it is not behind the all when you hit. The shafts are made to light that they actually flex when you swing. This flexing can actually cause a whipping motion as the club hits the ball that makes it go even faster.

At the beginning I told you that the most important thing about longest golf drivers is that they are comfortable. The biggest factor in comfort is the grips. And that is something you can easily change if they are not working for you. Your grips should fit your hands in a relaxed way. The bigger your hands, the wider or thicker the grips should be. This is why mens grips are thicker than womans. If you can hold the club comfortably it will help you to be consistent. And if you can be consistent then you can swing harder. And if you swing harder, the ball goes further. Sounds simple, but that is what makes it such a challenge.
